DEADROSES ON VALENTINE’S DAY

Once again, it’s the year of the Bear. Last year Blackbear released his EP The Afterglow and it was ahhh-mazing. This year he dropped his new album Deadroses on 14 Feb 2015, just in time for Valentine’s Day. (Does this mean that Bear was everyone’s valentine?)

I think Deadroses is different to Bear’s usual music. The lyrics are deeper and the beats are even sicker than before. The album consists of 10 songs and even includes two of our favourites, ‘I Needed You’ and ‘Idfc’ that we’d play over and over on Soundcloud.

There’s a new twist to ‘I Needed You’ and I must say that it’s better than the original version. Blackbear features with two artists, G-Eazy and Devon Baldwin. Listen to G-Eazy and Bear’s combination of smooth vocals in the track ‘90210’. In ‘90210’ Blackbear sings about how you can’t buy a girl, except for her designer clothes. Another favourite is the bass-filled, sick beat track ‘Dirty Laundry’ which is about how Bear admits to having a few raucous nights with girls and lots of cocaine (bad, bad Bear). He also has to deal with telling his girl about the shenanigans he’s been hiding.

I know I have my favourite tracks but track one through to ten, Deadroses is fuckin’ flawless. Super pleased with this album. Nice one, Bear 🙂
